MisaTango a été composée entre septembre 1995 et avril 1996 par le compositeur argentin Martín Palmeri.​ La première représentation a été donnée le 17 août 1996 au Teatro Broadway de Buenos Aires par l'Orquesta Sinfonica nacional de Cuba, le Chœur de la Faculté de droit de l'Université de Buenos Aires et le Chœur polyphonique de la ville de Vicente López (choeurs auxquels l'œuvre est dédiée). ​ MisaTango est une messe chorale sur des sonorités de Tango. Elle est composée sur les mêmes mouvements qu’une messe en latin classique, à laquelle se mêlent les harmoniques et les rythmes syncopés du tango. Le compositeur introduit en outre l’instrument emblématique du tango, le bandonéon, soliste aux côtés d’un orchestre à cordes (violons, altos, violoncelles et contrebasse) et du piano. Une partie de mezzo-soprano solo vient ponctuer l’œuvre, répondant au chœur mixte.​ L'oeuvre a beaucoup gagné en notoriété lorsqu’elle fut jouée à Rome en octobre 2013, en l’église de Saint-Ignace de Loyola, lors du Festival international de musique et d’art sacré au Vatican. La MisaTango a été choisie cette année-là pour rendre hommage à l’intronisation de l’ancien cardinal de Buenos Aires devenu le Pape François, cette même année 2013, en référence aux origines Argentine de cet ancien danseur de Tango. ​« Cette oeuvre a été écrite avec l’intention d’offrir à mes choeurs une oeuvre symphonique chorale qui puisse nous rapprocher du répertoire du tango. En effet, en travaillant avec mes choeurs, j’ai constaté à quel point l’interprétation des tangos traditionnels par des chorales est particulièrement difficile et complexe. Cette oeuvre est donc ici un hommage aux choeurs et au tango ainsi qu’à ses créateurs. Mais elle est aussi issue d’une production spontanée, fruit de mon expérience, comme chef de choeur, pianiste et arrangeur de tango. » Martín Palmeri ​ A. Piazzolla et M.
